While I've been "slacking" at providing proper updates, our project has been moving forward and, business-wise, I'm becoming more and more knowledgeable. Turns out, "there's plenty of help out there" if you know where to search.

- Platform building is proving to be a task that requires more hands on deck and dedication than we initially thought. The team is growing and we are all learning new skills. It's quite exciting actually! There's drive and passion. Who can ask for more?!?
- The story of the game is slowly shaping up. Ideas are overflowing. Made a few changes to the original plans. Evolving from a simple war game and morphing into a true social virtual experience. Changed from Alliances to Guilds - guess I'm a bit reminiscent of WOW (World of Warcraft). We're also debating a solution for facilitating 3 groups of allegiances, so those who want to fight can fight and those who just want to build slowly and farm can choose to do that. The character typology - choosing a strength on each player account - is making for good conversation (spy accounts raised my interest, for example). It'll be a trial and error; looking forward to our beta testing stage. Can't wait to hear your thoughts and suggestions! After all, this is meant to be a game for the players, by the players.
- Back to business... The Trademark registration hit a few speed bumps, but I used them as a learning experience. "The things I wish I knew..." LOL. It's part of becoming a business woman, I suppose. At least I lucked out with an amazing and very helpful Trademark Attorney: Mary. She's been a God-send. Might even name a game character in her honor. ;-)
- The game description is still a work in progress. Here is my current draft: "Queens and Kings" is a socially interactive game; a skill learning, team building, leadership training software. It is a free download application, city and army building war game designed on an original multiplayer mobile platform. The platform aims to showcase and help improve the skills of our users by engaging them in interactive virtual competitions, social networking and mobile community building which can lead to desirable benefits in the off-line world.
- Met with a volunteer consultant from the SBA (Small Business Association). He had some cool propositions for the marketing phase of this process. Still a bit in limbo with the marketing. It's a catch 22. If I reach out for outside investment, which is very much needed at this point, the "work of passion" can easily become a "must be profitable for investors" kind of deal. And that defeats the purpose of what I'm trying to achieve here. Building "the game that I would want to play" is the main goal. The self-financing is, so far, ensuring that this remains passion fueled. Which means: if you are good at marketing and care to pitch in... the door is wide open. I'm looking for inventive, viral, out of the box thoughts. Once we reach enough true gamers and prove that this is THE game, we can hopefully achieve a self-sustainable stage which would benefit everyone (most importantly, our hardcore gamers).
